02Christmas in and around Rimini

  • Sand nativity scenes: every year a large nativity scene is sculpted in sand at Torre Pedrera, right next to Viserbella. It's one of the most visited on the Riviera.
  • Christmas markets and lights in the centre of Rimini, with the tree and street lights in piazza Cavour.
  • The World's Longest New Year's Eve: Rimini's programme of events, concerts and shows over the festive season.
  • The Assalto al castello: the New Year's Eve firework display at Castel Sismondo, in piazza Malatesta in the centre of Rimini.
  • In the villages inland: the Natale delle Meraviglie in San Marino, the Christmas Castle at Gradara and Il Paese del Natale in Sant’Agata Feltria. There's more on our inland hills and villages page.

03The seaside in winter

On a sunny day out of season the beach is calm and quiet, and it's a good time for a walk along the shore.

Our air-conditioned rooms with sea-view balconies are heated in winter, and the private car park in front of the entrance makes life easy over the holidays too.

04Christmas and New Year at the hotel

Hotel Viking is open for New Year (at Christmas we close from 23 to 25 December and reopen on the 26th). The Antonioli family welcomes you to a family-run hotel with air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant serving Romagna cooking and a bar for a coffee or an aperitivo when you come back from a walk.

Over the holidays many guests come for a short stay of two or three nights: arrive on Christmas Eve or 30 December, celebrate, and head home at your own pace. Send us your dates and we'll put together a quote with the board option you prefer.

05Getting around over Christmas and New Year

The centre of Rimini, with its lights, markets and open-air concerts, is about fifteen minutes away by car or bus. The sand nativity at Torre Pedrera is a few minutes away, and you can walk there along the seafront. For San Marino, Gradara and the inland villages you'll need the car: see our inland hills and villages page for times and ideas.

Leave your car in the private car park in front of the hotel, fenced and covered by CCTV, for €6 a night, included in the New Year package. On New Year's Eve you can walk to E Tendon.
