Christmas and New Year in Rimini

Hotel Viking in Viserbella di Rimini is open all year round, including Christmas and New Year. Rimini in winter has a special charm: the winter sea, the lights, the markets, the sand nativity scenes and one of the most famous New Year's Eve celebrations in Italy. And just a short walk from the hotel there's the party on the beach at Viserbella.

01New Year's Eve on the beach at Viserbella: dinner at E Tendon

In Viserbella New Year's Eve is also celebrated by the sea: the local tourism committee organises a New Year's Eve dinner with entertainment and music at E Tendon, a marquee set up on the beach, a short walk from the hotel.

After the party you walk back to your room, with no need to think about the car. For information and bookings for the dinner just ask us: we'll tell you what to do.

02Christmas in Rimini and the surrounding area

  • Sand nativity scenes: at Torre Pedrera, just next to Viserbella, a large nativity scene sculpted in sand is set up every year, one of the most visited on the Riviera.
  • Christmas markets and lights in the centre of Rimini, with the tree and the illuminations in piazza Cavour.
  • The World's Longest New Year's Eve: the programme of events, concerts and shows with which Rimini celebrates the holiday season.
  • The Assalto al castello: on New Year's Eve, the fireworks show at Castel Sismondo, in piazza Malatesta, in the centre of Rimini.
  • In the hilltop villages: the Natale delle Meraviglie in San Marino, the Christmas Castle in Gradara and Il Paese del Natale in Sant’Agata Feltria. You'll find it all on the Inland hills and villages page.

03The sea in winter

A walk on the beach on a sunny winter's day, the sea calm and all quiet: it's one of the loveliest pleasures of the Riviera out of season.

The hotel has air-conditioned rooms with sea-view balconies, heated in winter, and the private car park in front of the entrance, handy on holidays too.

04The holidays at the hotel

At Christmas and New Year Hotel Viking stays open just like the rest of the year: the Antonioli family welcomes you to a family-run hotel, with air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant serving Romagna cooking and the bar for a coffee or an aperitif when you get back from your walks.

Over the holidays many guests choose a short stay of two or three nights: arrive on Christmas Eve or 30 December, celebrate and leave at your leisure. Send us your dates and we'll prepare a tailor-made quote with the board option you prefer.

05Getting around over the holidays

The centre of Rimini, with its lights, markets and concerts in the squares, is about a quarter of an hour away by car or bus; the Torre Pedrera sand nativity scene is a few minutes away, even on foot along the sea. For San Marino, Gradara and the inland villages you'll need the car: you'll find travel times and ideas on the inland hills and villages page.

You can leave your car in the private car park in front of the hotel, fenced and with CCTV, at €6 per night. On New Year's Eve you can walk to E Tendon.
